The Dirty Work: Table Grape Case Study

BioFlora® was founded in 1972 with a goal to conceptualize, develop, manufacture, market, and deliver a proprietary product line to the agricultural community. Through our innovative products and programs, we provide solutions to our customers in both domestic and international markets. Today, we have over 30 unique proprietary products that benefit growers, retailers, and consumers. Our organic and sustainable agricultural programs maximize the efficacy and efficiency of traditional agricultural inputs, while being mindful of their environmental impact.

Table Grape Case Study

BioFlora® began a trial on table grapes in Coachella, California to determine if our products would enhance the soil microbial population, Brix levels, shelf life, and the grape size of the treated crops. For this trial, we worked with the following varieties of table grapes: Flames Desert, Thompson Seedless, and Summer Royal.

Our Method

BioFlora® began a table grapes trial with a long list of objectives. Each of these objectives were made possible by a combination of BioFlora® products. Our highest priorities were to develop even ripening and enhance the quality of the grapes in order to produce a higher quality wine by stabilizing the fermentation process. Secondly, our goals were to help the long-term health of the vineyard, by mitigating salt damage, increasing microbial diversity in the soil, and increasing the wood maturity of the vines. For this trial, we followed the same protocol as our wine grape program. However, we added a third soil application 30 days prior to harvest.

Humega® enhances root protection by stimulating the growth of beneficial microbes.

BioFlora Seaweed Creme® increases flowering, fruit set, and fruit cell density while improving the balance between sugars and acidity.

Fulmega™ 1% Mg assists with higher yield even with less chemical fertilizer input.

GOgreen® buffers the plant roots from sales and other soil contaminates.

DynaMega® 2-1-1 increases cane density to produce more dense and hardy wood, resulting in more bunch producing spurs and less cane breakage during harvest.

Our Results

Diversity of soil microbes increased, causing a noticeable decrease in disease pathogens.

Even fruit set and ripening throughout all varieties tested.

Fruit sizing was extremely favorable:

Flames Desert: 15/16ths
Thompson Seedless: 14/16ths
Summer Royal: 15/16ths

The Brix levels were heightened throughout the trial.

Shelf life distinctively increased in all varieties.
